2011 Convention Speaker – Mark & Mindy Gibson

Posted by Ryan º Education | Quarterly Information º 0 comments
Marc and Mindy Gibson have been involved in photography and graphicdesign for nearly 20 years. The two of them met in the dorms at DixieCollege. Mindy was recruited to be the editor of The Dixie Sun newspaperand Marc was beginning to find his love for photography. As they worked together frequently on the school paper, there was much more developing in the darkroom than just black and white photographs. After their marriage, Mindy continued on and finished her Bachelor’s degree and Marc eventually completed his Master’s degree in Business Administration. Then with the addition of three girls to the family, photography began to play a diminished role in their busy lives. However, they still found time to pick up a few weddings each year and took advantage of the beautiful fall colors by booking family members, friends and close acquaintances. As their children got older and began to attend school, Mindy was able to put more time and effort into growing the business-first out of their home and then into a small retail location. Today, Marc and Mindy are the proud owners of a local studio located at Historic Gardner Village called Highlite Photography. Although they offer photography services including weddings, children and high school seniors, the Gibson’shave developed a love and a passion for outdoor family portraits that is the foundation of their business. Come see them speak as they kick off the annual 2011 IPPA convention. They will share their story from having no studio, to a home studio, and then to a retail studio. Their program will include the key factors of success for all family portrait photographersas well as a demonstration of posing techniques and outdoor lighting using off-cameraflash.
